Keller: Ministry is our most important work

When we think about people having a ministry, our thoughts are immediately turned to pastors or people involved in organized religion.

As Christians, each of us has a ministry, regardless of what we do for a living.

As a husband and father, my ministry was my family and the people with whom I worked and socialized. Not being a Christian, even though I deceived myself, I wasn’t a godly influence.

Today, Jeanne and I are privileged to be laborers in God’s ministry of Get High on Life.

It’s an awesome responsibility, which I pray we will never abuse when ministering to the lonely and hurting people God has put in our path.

I’m also reminded daily that it’s more important to minister to my family now, than ever before.

I’m more focused now on being a light in this dark world and with the Holy Spirit’s guidance and wisdom, hopefully make a difference in people’s lives.

I thank God that I didn’t die years ago when I was lost and going to Hell.

Today, I know I’ll spend eternity in Heaven when this life is over, not because of what I’ve done, but because of what Jesus did at the Cross.

I’ve had a few jobs in my life, but the most rewarding is being a minister, representing the King of Kings and the Lord of my life.
