St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre and several of his fellow officers visited East St. John High School on April 15 as part of Pancakes with the Police.

Students with high scores on the American College Test and other standardized tests were treated to breakfast and celebrated their achievements with Tregre and other officers of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Tregre and the officers congratulated the students for a job well done and encouraged them to always strive to do their best.

He encouraged students to enhance life skills to be a productive member of society. Since keyboard skills are essential in nearly every career, Tregre suggested that students work to improve their typing speed and accuracy. Also, employers often want workers who can speak another language, therefore, Tregre said it’s important for students to become proficient at speaking a foreign language.

No matter what career they decide on, Tregre told students to keep improving themselves in some way.

Officers from several divisions also talked briefly about their respective careers.
