Keller: Prayer is the better alternative to worry

Worry is one of the main causes of a person being in bondage.

It will deprive you from being free to enjoy life.

Worry causes a feeling of distress in the mind, making one anxious and always troubled or uneasy. It leads to fear about things that could happen, which 98 percent of the time never will.

The Bible says in Matthew 6:34 – “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

In other words, live one day at a time and pray for God to give you a peace about any problem that may be tormenting you.

When you pray more, you worry less. That means God is leaving it all up to you.

You have a choice. Either pray about it or worry about it.

In prayer you give your problem to God and you will enjoy a peace that only He can give.

In a business place I frequent occasionally, there’s a sign I’ve read many times which says “Good Morning! This is God. I will be handling all of your problems today. I will not need your help, so enjoy your day!”

Is that hard to do?

Yes, but pray and make a decision each day to turn it over to God.

God doesn’t expect you to live in a state of denial and stop caring. Instead, He gives you a choice.

You can choose to stay in bondage or turn it over to Him, pray and stop worrying.
