John “J.D.” Maurin Jr. died peacefully in his home on Monday, Nov. 7 in Reserve at the age of 58.

He is survived by his six children, John Maurin III (Katherine), Jarett Maurin (Brittany), Jonathan Maurin, Joel Maurin, Joseph Maurin and Joy Maurin; his brother, Greg Maurin; and his sister, Linda Stein (Kevin).

He is also survived by five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Maurin Sr. and his mother, Gladys Vicknair Maurin.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1958. He was a native of LaPlace and a resident of Reserve.

A visitation is planned at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at St. Joan of Arc church in LaPlace.

A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Patrick Collum. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate J.D.’s life.
