Zachary Scott Revall, 25, of West Monroe, formerly of LaPlace, passed away on Feb. 29, 2016.

Zachary was born in New Orleans on June 13, 1990.

He is survived by his parents, Susan and Gary Revall; brother Andrew, sister-in-law Nora; niece Olivia; maternal grandmother Iduma (Jackie) Engelbracht and paternal grandfather Melvin Revall.

Zachary attended St Joan of Arc School and was a graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School, class of 2009. He attended River Parishes Community College.

Always known for his hugs and smiles, he was eager to help anyone when asked.

While in high school he was a member of several clubs and was one of the student leads in the school’s computer program. He never turned down any friend or acquaintance requests to “fix” their computer.

He was a member of the SCC retreat team and was voted “Most Dependable” by his senior class.

Zachary earned his first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was an altar server and honor guard server at St Joan of Arc.

On the early morning of Jan. 1, 2009, he was able to get five neighbors to safety from their burning home. He received numerous awards including acclamations from the Archbishop of New Orleans and the Archbishop of Washington, D.C. for his bravery. He received congratulations from the governor and state representatives and was a recipient of the 2009 Young Hero of Louisiana.

He was honored by the LaPlace Fire Department for Meritorious service by a civilian. He was awarded the 2009 Stephanie Wilking Outstanding Youth award from the LaPlace Rotary.

A Memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church with a reception to follow in the school cafeteria.
