Ruth Abreo Swible, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, devout Catholic and good friend, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born on February 8, 1942, in Gramercy.

Ruthie is survived by her loving husband, Edward H. Swible Jr., her four children, Michael J. Jaubert Jr. (Fran) of Mission Viejo, Calif., Richard R. Jaubert (Susan) of New Orleans, Marcel L. Jaubert (Shannon) of LaPlace and Janel J. Levet of LaPlace, her precious grandchildren, Emily Jaubert, Adrienne Jaubert, Erin Jaubert, Lauren Jaubert, Daniel Jaubert, Rene’ Jaubert, Louis Jaubert, Gabrielle Levet, Jeanne Levet and Madeleine Levet, brothers John K. Abreo, Leon Abreo III and Bernard J. Abreo and brother-in-law David A. Swible.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon J. Abreo Jr. and Ruth Heltz Abreo, and brother, Thomas L. Abreo.

She is also survived by both Godparents, Helen H. Lambert and John Earl Abreo, and many neices, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her uncle, Nelson “T Pep” Heltz.

Ruthie graduated from Lutcher High School in 1960 and attended Spencer Business College in New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. She worked in the medical field as an office manager and credit manager and a Beltone Hearing Aid Consultant.

She also worked at a mental health and consulting center in Metairie, which was extremely interesting for her because of her nature of helping people. She loved to sew and crochet and enjoyed making crafts. Her gift of the arts was passed on in her counted cross-stitch pieces.

Visitation and services were held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. Interment followed in St. John Memorial Gardens in LaPlace. Arrangements were by Millet-Guidry Funeral Home of LaPlace.
