LUTCHER – Violet Ann Berthelot, 73, a resident of St. James Parish, died March 13. She was the husband of the late Lynn Berthelot, and mother of Laura Clouatre, Nanette, Kevin Berthelot, and the late Cara Villeret and Darren Berthelot.

She was also the daughter of the late Eddie and Viola Duhon, and sister of Audrey Cambre, Mary Michel, Alice Zeringue, Glenda Vedros, Ned and Eddie Duhon Jr.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services are today at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

BROWN

GARYVILLE – Blanche “Bo” Brown, 75, a resident of Garyville, died March 4. He was the husband of the late Eva “Evelyn” Brown, and father of Evelyn Barney, Lee Esther, Branches, James, Loretta, Michael, Ike and Evella Brown.

He was also the son of the late John and Alberta Hall Brown.

He is also survived by 39 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was a retired bus driver for the St. John Parish public school system.

Services were March 12 in the chapel of Hobson-Brown Funeral Home, Garyville, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

CARR

KENNER – Myrtle Emmerine Utley Carr, 86, a native of Hopkins County, Ky., and resident of Destrehan, died March 12. She was the mother of Barbara Turner, Mileton and James Gunther.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services are March 17 at 1 p.m., in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with interment at Hicklin Cemetery, Anton, Ky. Visitation starts today from 5 to 8 p.m., and tomorrow from 9 a.m.

HILT

LAPLACE – Gretchen Michele Hilt, 38, a native of York, Penn., and resident of LaPlace for 22 years, died March 10. She was the daughter of Carl and Sharon Gingerich Hilt and sister of Colleen David.

She was a graduate of East St. John High School’s special education program and attended St. John ARC for 15 years.

Memorial services are today at 7 p.m., at Lutheran Church of the Galilean, LaPlace, with interment at the Canadolchly Cemetery, York, Penn.

MABES

NORCO – Ralph Edward Mabes, 76, a native of Tulsa, Okla., resident of New Sarpy for many years, and resident of Gretna, died March 11. He was the brother of Ernest Mabes, half-brother of Jackie Marshall and Connie Mabes.

He is also survived by eight stepchildren and many step-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m., in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 9 a.m,.

SORAPURU

EDGARD – Stanley E. Sorapuru Sr., 79, a native of Lucy/Edgard and resident of Chicago for more than 60 years, died March 9. He was the husband of Lois “Delores” Bedford Sorapuru and father of Stanley Sorapuru Jr.

He was also the son of the late Wilbert and Honorine Meadoux Sorapuru, and brother of Olga Boudoin, Theresa Adam, Audrey Gautier, Bertha, Larry Sr., Leroy Sorapuru, and the late Thelma Barre.

He is also survived by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were March 14 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.
