LAPLACE — A St. James Parish man was arrested this week, local police connecting him to multiple burglaries, one dating back more than a year.

Larry Hales Jr., 25, of Gramercy was arrested Wednesday and is charged with seven counts of simple burglary and five counts of simple criminal damage to property under $500.

Physical evidence recovered at Plantation Pub on May 30 “was forensically matched” to Hales, according to a release from the St. John the Baptist Parish’s Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities had originally responded to the Carrollwood Drive watering hole following a burglary report.

Police said a business representative cleaning the parking lot noticed the Pub’s front door was open, and officers discovered it was forced open and a lug wrench was located on the floor.

“The victim told officers a safe containing cash was missing,” the release said.

Hales is also facing charges following property damage sustained at St. John Mini Storage on Nov. 6, 2015.

“Upon arrival, deputies observed that several locks were cut, fencing was damaged and vehicles were vandalized,” the release said.

As of late this week, Hales was being held in custody in lieu of a $126,000 bond.
