LAPLACE — A Reserve man punched by a friend received a second blow four days later when deputies arrested him for filing a false police report in relation to the altercation, authorities said.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said Antoine Guillory Jr., 24, of Reserve told deputies a man approached him in the parking lot at Birdies Store on Belle Terre Boulevard, punched him and robbed him of cash after completing an ATM transaction Sept. 21.

According to Sgt. Dane Clement, Guillory told the medical staff, who were treating him, that he was attacked, which led to law enforcement’s involvement.

Follow-up work by detectives led to a different story later in the week, authorities said.

“On Sept. 25, during an interview with detectives, Guillory admitted to detectives that he lied when he reported the robbery,” Tregre said. “Guillory told detectives that he falsified the report to protect his friend, who punched him during an altercation, and he did not want to pursue charges against his friend.”

Detectives booked Guillory with criminal mischief — filing a false police report and two outstanding attachments.

He bonded out of jail on an $800 bond.

Detectives do not know the name of the friend Guillory was trying to protect or what caused the altercation, Clement said, adding authorities are not searching for the friend.
