Labiche receives graduate student award

GRAMERCY — Katie H. Labiche received the David A. Muir Graduate Student Award for her Case Study Presentation related to the use of the Passy-Muir Valve in the assessment and treatment of dysphagia and communication disorders.

Labiche accepted the national level award and was recognized at the Honors Ceremony during the 2014 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla.

The award included $1,500, a communication disorders textbook, an anatomical model to be used for patient education, travel assistance to Orlando, Fla., and a $200 donation to a scholarship fund in honor of the award recipient.

Labiche also presented  the Case Study to speech-language pathologists and audiologists at the Louisiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention in June 2014.

Labiche is a speech-language pathologist at Gramercy Elementary and Magnet School.
