On behalf of every Medicare beneficiary in Louisiana and across the country, please ask Congress to vote NO on Medicare negotiation. Right now, an estimated 814,500 Louisianans rely on Medicare to get the care they need. And I am one of them.
Ten years ago, I won my battle with breast cancer. While I hoped that being in remission would be the end of my fight, I was wrong. I still require daily medication to stay healthy, but thankfully, I have excellent coverage through my Medicare Part D plan.
The medications I take each and every day aren’t optional. Losing access to the medications that work so well for me could be deadly. This is why I am writing to you today to vote against any changes to Medicare programs.
Under a current proposal in Congress, access to certain medications could be threatened. I like the coverage I receive through Medicare and I would hate to see politicians meddle with my access to treatment in any way. While some have argued that this legislation could result in cost savings, I’ve read that this very proposal could actually limit Medicare beneficiaries’ access to the medications they depend on. In countries like Canada that have similar policies in place, patients have faced serious issues accessing treatments.
