On July 1, 2021, Joshua Worley of 101 Williams St. Paincourtville, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. Worley was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Jason Verdigets. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors following the execution of a search warrant during the course of a narcotics investigation targeting street level drug dealers in Assumption Parish.

On June 29, 2018, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents executed a search warrant at a Paincourtville residence in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation. Upon arriving to the residence to execute the search warrant, agents observed several individuals in the yard near the residence. Joshua Worley attempted to flee on foot and discard of two clear plastic baggies containing suspected narcotics. Worley was apprehended and detained pending the search of the residence. During the search, agents located quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, and US currency. All evidence was collected, and the parties involved were booked into the Assumption Parish Jail.

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Worley was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
