BATON ROUGE, LA – On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was adopted and the United States of America became a free and independent nation. Since then, the Fourth of July has been celebrated as America’s Independence Day. In recognition of this year’s Independence Day, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following statement:

“I encourage all citizens of Louisiana to join me in celebration of our great Nation – not only remembering the heroes and victories of our past, but also looking forward to our bright futures in the land of the free. This year marks the 245th birthday of America, and it should be a day that our entire country comes together to recognize and appreciate our incredible God-given freedoms. As someone who proudly served in our military – I continue to support and pray for the families of our soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms, as well as for our valiant service members currently fighting on the front lines to protect our republic. As Louisiana’s Attorney General, I vow to honor my fellow Americans by defending their freedoms and their rights established by our Founding Fathers 245 years ago.”
