Gary J. Western passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the age of 62. He was the beloved husband for 38 years to Kim Smith Western. Proud father of Courtney Western Hicks (Cody), Connor Western (Hailey), and the late Brett Western. Loving grandfather of Addison Hicks. Son of Gloria Western and the late William F. Western, Sr. Brother of William “Chip” Western, Jr. (Lynne), Blaine Western, Sr. (Jackie), and Scott Western (Alexis). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

Gary graduated from Redemptorist High School in the class of 1977. He worked on the Riverboat President alongside his father and worked in the food service industry for 39 years, specifically coffee and beverage. Gary coached softball for 25 years where he coached at Carrollton Playground, the Hurricanes travel ball team, and St. Charles Catholic High School. He loved being with his family and friends, cooking and baking, and bringing the joy of Christmas to everyone as the jolly ole elf.

Relatives, friends, and associates with Reily Foods/French Market Coffee, Louisiana Office Products, Ross Downing Automotive, Marathon Petroleum Company, and his St. Charles Catholic family are invited to attend the visitation at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for you to consider a donation to St. Charles Catholic High School’s softball and baseball programs in Gary’s name.
