St. Amant – Shortly before 2:00 pm on March 23, 2021, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a three vehicle fatality crash on LA Hwy 22 at LA Hwy 937 in Ascension Parish. The crash claimed the life of 55-year-old Kimberly Main of St. Amant.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as 17-year-old Brant Cedotal of St. Amant was traveling westbound on LA Hwy 22 in a 2004 Dodge pick-up. At the same time, Main was traveling eastbound on LA Hwy 22 in a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. For reasons still under investigation, Cedotal crossed the centerline into the opposing lane, which resulted in the Dodge striking the Chevrolet head-on. After being struck by the Dodge, the Chevrolet was subsequently struck by a 2020 GMC Sierra, which was traveling eastbound on LA Hwy 22.

Cedotal and the driver of the GMC were properly restrained and were not injured. Main was also properly restrained; however, she sustained serious injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from all three drivers for analysis.

The difficult assignment of death notification continues to be one of the hardest elements of the Law Enforcement profession. Notification is even more difficult when Troopers know that the outcome was preventable.  Please take a moment to put the safety of you and your loved ones ahead of everything else.  Aside from sound decisions behind the wheel, speak to your family and friends about the consequences of impaired driving.   Remind them that putting on a seatbelt greatly reduces the chances of being killed or seriously injured in a crash.  Speak to them about the dangers of distracted driving.  The conversation you have today could be the difference tomorrow.
