Get the Most Out of Your Video Visit

When preparing for a virtual appointment, remember these that virtual visits work best for common conditions that can easily be identified and examined using your phone, tablet or computer camera and a few simple, at-home diagnostic tools, such as a thermometer. These may include common cold or allergies, ear infection, rashes, stomach aches, pink eye, urinary tract infections, behavioral health and mental well-being or medication adjustments or general health questions.

To set up a virtual visit with MyOchsner you’ll need a mobile phone or tablet with iOS or Android operating system equipped with a front-facing camera and the MyChart app installed with Ochsner Health selected as your provider. You can find the MyChart app in the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play Store (Android).

In-Office Visits During COVID-19 – They can be used to examine more complex issues that need further diagnostic testing. These may include bone, joint and muscular pain, neurological disorders, diagnostic lab testing, advanced care for chronic conditions or necessary preventative procedures, such as annual exams, colonoscopies, Pap smears, prostate exams or mammograms

Safety Procedures

In addition to our ongoing safety procedures, we’ve added new measures to help keep you well. In order to ensure a clean, safe environment for patients, here are five safety measures you can expect during your next doctor’s visit.

Social Distancing – Patients will maintain at least a 6-foot distance between each other when checking in and in the waiting room. To practice social distancing, chairs and tables will be spaced out, acrylic shields will be placed over registration desks and there will be directions labeled via signs and on the floors to signify proper distances. Our staff will also practice social distancing unless closer contact is necessary for patient care.

Masks and Temperature Checks – When you enter a facility, you will participate in a mandatory temperature check as well as be given a mask to wear over your nose and mouth to help ensure your safety as well as others’ by limiting exposure of respiratory droplets, the means by which the virus spreads. If your temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, you will be sent home and asked to reschedule your appointment.

Additional Hand Sanitizer Available – Ochsner has increased the number of its automatic hand sanitizer stations around all our facilities. We encourage you to use these touchless stations before your visit, after meeting with your provider, after touching yourself or others, after using the restroom, before and after eating or drinking or after touching objects such as elevator buttons, pens or handrails.

Regularly Cleaning All Public Areas – While we are always diligent about cleanliness, we’ve increased the number of times a day that our staff cleans all public areas. This is highly important to the health and well-being of our patients and staff.

Mobile Check-In with MyOchsner – ePre-Check for your appointment and pay your copay in advance. Mobile Check-In lets you tell us you’ve arrived automatically at most locations.
