Michel: Knowing who to call can lessen problems

As a mom of five, I’ve spent a lot of time as a spectator of sports. A few of those days are frozen in my memory, and my recent reflection of one of them warmed my heart all over again.

Two of my daughters, Lauren and Elise, were playing volleyball on their high school team. An opponent spiked the ball over the net to Elise. Elise bumped the ball up in the air, then instead of calling ‘Help’, she called for the player that she knew would get the ball over the net. She yelled for her sister, Lauren. The players near Elise scattered, and Lauren ran from the rear of the court to slap the ball away from Elise and back over the net.

I don’t know if you feel as though anything’s been hit toward you this week, or if it’s the same issue that keeps returning. Regardless of the problem or its severity, I always call the same Name.

Psalm 91 records God’s promise of protection in the midst of danger. Verse 15 serves as invitation for prayer: “He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.”

I believe that God has the answer to every problem, and when I call to Him, He changes everything.
