LAPLACE — LaPlace’s new Waffle House on Airline Highway is tentatively scheduled to open next week, with store officials hoping to open it for May 22.

The newly renovated yellow-trimmed building sits on the south corner of New Era and previously housed a Taco Bell, Arby’s and, most recently, Fuji Express, which closed after a tornado strike in 2016.

According to the St. John Parish Assessor’s Office, Waffle House LLC acquired the real estate from Critical Mass Holdings LLC in June 2017.

Waffle house is known throughout the South as a unique dining experience allowing customers to watch their fresh food cooked to order in a full-view kitchen.

Waffle House offers a variety of foods with a breakfast focus and is a leading server of waffles, omelets T-bone steaks and more.

Each Waffle House location is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
