State Police: 2 killed in Edgard crash, charges possible

EDGARD – Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Troopers with Troop C began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on Louisiana 3127 near Willowbend in Edgard.

The crash took the lives of 39-year-old Henry Coleman and 30-year-old Jacob Landry, each of Thibodaux.

The preliminary investigation revealed 21-year-old Tyler Gros of Thibodaux was traveling east on Louisiana 3127 in a 2010 Nissan Maxima.

Coleman was traveling west on Louisiana 3127 in a 2013 Dodge Charger.

For reasons still under investigation, Gros crossed the center line and struck Coleman’s vehicle head-on as they approached one another.

Coleman and Landry, his front seat passenger, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased on scene by the St. John the Baptist Coroner’s Office.

Coleman’s two rear passengers, both 40-year-old males, were injured with one being taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans with serious injuries and one taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Gros suffered moderate injuries and was taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans by Acadian Ambulance Service.

Impairment is unknown as a factor in this crash.

A standard toxicology report is pending on the part of Coleman through the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office.

A blood sample was obtained from Gros and a toxicology report is pending through the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.

Investigators are working to determine if Coleman and his occupants were restrained during the crash.

According to Louisiana State Police, Gros was properly restrained during the crash and charges are possible pending the outcome of the investigation.
