Motorist killed Sunday following Airline Highway crash

GARYVILLE — Early Sunday, shortly before 3 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a fatal crash on Aireline Highway near Marathon.

The crash involved two vehicles and claimed the life of one individual, 23-year-old Jamie Andrada of New Orleans.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Ford Focus was stopped, for reasons still under investigation, in the right lane, near the right shoulder on Airline Highway South.

A Ford F-150, driven by 53-year-old Jeffery Keys of LaPlace, was traveling south on Airline Highway in the right lane. The Ford impacted the rear of the Ford Focus.

The driver of the Ford Focus, Andrada, was ejected through the rear windshield and pronounced dead on the scene.

Keys was wearing a seat belt and was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The driver of the Ford Focus was not belted at the time of the crash.

Impairment is unknown at this time, pending toxicology results. The crash remains under investigation.
