Shortly before 4 a.m. this morning (Dec. 1), Troopers with Troop C began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash on Shrimpers Row, just south of Falgout Canal Road in Dulac.

The crash took the life of 20-year-old Connelly Rhodes.

The preliminary investigation revealed Rhodes was traveling northbound on Shrimpers Row in a Ford F-250. For reasons still under investigation, Rhodes lost control of his vehicle and ran off of the roadway to the right, where he struck a ditch causing his vehicle to overturn.

He was not wearing his seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. Rhodes suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.

Rhodes had an unrestrained passenger that sustained minor injuries and refused treatment on scene.

State Police said alcohol use is suspected as a factor in this crash and toxicology tests are pending through the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office.
