Keller: Veterans Wall dedication at PJ’s honors our heroes

Published 12:19 am Wednesday, May 30, 2018

I met John Sullivan at PJ’s Coffee Shop a couple of years ago.

I often tease him and say, “If people haven’t met you, they haven’t missed a thing.”

I’ll never know how John puts up with me, but getting to know him has been a blessing.

He is a Navy veteran who served our country from 1973–1981. Twelve months of that time was spent in Vietnam.

Early this year, I noticed pictures of service men from the different branches of the military on the wall at PJ’s.

John shared that he had permission from the owners, Tom and Robin Lewis, to create a Veterans Wall for customers to see and remember men and women who have protected the freedoms we enjoy.

He thought that as people gather to have coffee, they might remember the sacrifices people made to protect us.

With that intention, this Saturday/June 2 at 10 a.m., there will be a Veterans Wall dedication.

The public is invited to attend as veterans from the South Louisiana Veterans Home will be available to answer questions about what America means to them.

God willing, I will be there to have coffee, observe the pictures on the wall and thank my friend, John Sullivan, for putting action into an idea.

With appreciation to Tom and Robin for using their place of business to promote patriotism that will touch others, I say Thanks!

If anyone is interested in having their picture in uniform displayed on the wall, contact John at 318-537-2196.
