LUTCHER — St. James Parish Hospital is proud to announce the 2023 Employee of the Second Quarter, Rachel Lasseigne, Medical Technologist. Rachel was nominated by fellow staff and chosen by the Executive Leadership Team for her dedication to the hospital.

Rachel graduated from South Lafourche High School in 1981 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Science Education from Nicholls State University. Upon graduation, she taught High School Chemistry and eventually went back to school. She then attended LSU School of Allied Health and graduated with a degree in Medical Technology (Clinical Laboratory Science).

Rachel has worked as a Medical Technologist since 1997 and has served in St. James Parish Hospital’s lab for 7 years.

Rachel was nominated by fellow lab team members Tina Sherman, Brandy Guedry, Andrea Fabre and Norma Bergeron.

The nomination stated, “Rachel always has a smile on her face. Every time anyone in any department has a question or concern of any kind, she is more than willing to assist.”

“During times when scheduling was short, she adjusted her schedule to working nights, weekends or whatever was needed so that patients did not have to wait to be seen or have delays. When there was construction in our area, she went out of her way to relocate patients to a safe location where they could be taken care of. She ensured all patients that they were out of harm’s way and made them feel at ease. She has stepped up on numerous occasions and taken on many responsibilities.”

Rachel commented, “My first 15 or so years were at a small community hospital in my home town. Having the privilege of being able to return to that same type of facility has been very enjoyable for me.”

“I believe our motto, ‘large enough to serve, small enough to care,’ holds true at St James Parish Hospital. St James Parish Hospital has a strong family-oriented staff with leaders who respect and promote that unity,” said Rachel.

St. James Parish Hospital congratulates Rachel for her dedication to the hospital’s mission of providing excellent, quality and compassionate healthcare.
