Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

As the principal of West St. John High School, I am proud of the partnership with the Greenfield Wallace Grain Export Facility project. This project offers numerous benefits to our school and our community, and I urge everyone to carefully review what Greenfield is actually doing in our community.

Greenfield has already provided much-needed, nationally recognized expertise to build and execute a marketing plan for our school. This will help us to attract certified and dedicated teachers and increase enrollment, which is critical to our success.

Furthermore, Greenfield has already provided full scholarships and a guarantee of employment at the export facility to three West St. John graduates who are now studying at River Parishes Community College. More scholarships will become available once the facility is permitted and built, providing even more opportunities for our students to achieve their goals at home.

Greenfield will provide opportunities for our students and their parents to advance economically in our parish safely. The Greenfield team has intentionally designed this facility with state-of-the-art technology and advanced engineering controls and equipment to protect the environment, ensuring the safety of its workers and the surrounding community. In addition, the project will create jobs and bring in much-needed tax dollars and partnership funds to grow our school and attract more certified teachers. This is critical to our goal of returning West St. John High School to an A rating, demonstrating academic progress for our students, and providing opportunities for advancement.

In addition to the economic benefits, Greenfield has committed to investing $1 million in our school to improve its facilities and train our students so they are job-ready at graduation. This kind of support is invaluable and will help us to provide our students with a quality education that prepares them for successful futures.

It is clear that the Greenfield Wallace Grain Export Facility project will have a positive impact on our community, our school, and most importantly, our students. I urge everyone to consider these facts as they weigh support for this project and help us to create a brighter future for our students and our parish.
