In 2019, a Louisiana law became effective to supposedly to increase transparency in public school discipline and policing. It was HB 160, and after the governor’s signature in June, it became Act No. 148. It has been effective since 8/01/2019.
The Louisiana 2019 KIDS COUNT Data Book Rankings show facts overall and by domain:
• Overall Child Well-Being 49th
• Economic Well-Being 50th
• Education 48th
• Health 42nd
• Family & Community 48th
Louisiana’s future prosperity depends on our collective ability to make sure that children growing up in our state are healthy, safe and well-educated.
We need to hold elected officials accountable and there are many ways we (Taxpayers) must stand firm in showing where the power of the vote really lies (with We the People).
Each parish must do better to educate its students regardless of how we feel. Our children are as much a part of right now as they will be a part of the future in whatever Parish they are being educated.
Board members recognize that structure is needed our schools. The job of the school board is to ensure the administration in place provides structure across the board along with classroom management with adjustments needed to help our children become productive citizens.
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.
But education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society.
The most dangerous criminal may be the one gifted with reasons, but no morals –

We must start sharing concerns now even if the forecasts are still uncertain.
In most cases what we can do together is far more than what can be done alone.
God Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference–try it you might like it.
