Two Destrehan men were arrested recently after stealing a boat and stripping it of equipment and components at a LaPlace boat launch. Rock Schexnaydre, 23, and Christian Schexnayder, 21, were both charged with theft – $5,000-$25,000 (felony).
On May 25, 2022, officers responded to Ruddock U.S. 51 launch in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim had an emergency at her home and had to leave the boat docked at the launch. The next day when the victim returned to the launch to pick up the boat, she observed the boat sinking in a canal. After retrieving the boat, the victim discovered the motor, diving gear, fishing rigs and other equipment valued at about $9,000 were stolen.
Through investigation and review of video surveillance at the launch, detectives developed Schexnaydre and Schexnayder as suspects. Based on investigation, detectives obtained judicial arrest warrants for the men. Schexnaydre was arrested and released November 25, 2022 on a $25,000 bond. Schexnayder was arrested and released November 28, 2022 on a $25,000 bond.
