West Baton Rouge – On Saturday May 7, 2022 shortly after 4:00 am, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to a fatal crash on LA 415 at US 190 in West Baton Rouge Parish.  The crash has claimed the life of 54-year-old Arturo Vaquera Martinez of San Elizario, TX.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Martinez was driving a 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer northbound on LA 415.  For reasons still under investigation, Martinez failed to negotiate the curve that lead to the northbound entrance ramp to US 190 Westbound.  The tractor-trailer traveled off the road and continued through the guardrail before overturning.

At this time, restraint use is unknown.  Despite lifesaving measures by first responders, Martinez was pronounced deceased on scene.  Impairment is not suspected as a contributing factor in this crash.  As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected for scientific analysis.

Speed, impairment, distractions and lack of seatbelt continue to represent contributing factors in crashes investigated by the Louisiana State Police.  These preventable crashes often have life altering consequences for all parties involved. Please speak to your loved ones about the importance of safe decisions while driving.
