Charles Daniel “Chuck” Wisher, Sr. passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the age of 95. He was born in Toledo, OH a native of Tampa, FL and a resident of LaPlace, LA.
Chuck graduated from Auburn University with a Mechanical Engineering Degree in 1952. He began his professional career with Shell Oil, where he worked for 20 years, before moving on to Northern Petro Chemical Company (Morris, IL), from where he retired in 1984. Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was stationed in the Pacific. He was an avid bowler, including bowling a perfect game. He was a member of the American Legion Post #366 in St. Rose, where he was the District 2 Chairmen of the American Legion Baseball League. He was also a highly decorated Louisiana Senior Olympian.
Beloved husband of June Ann Guillot Wisher. Loving father of Charles Daniel “Danny” Wisher, Jr. (Charlene), Maureen Elaine Roberts (Don), Karen Ann Williams (Ed), Stephen Louis Wisher (Denise) and Allison Marie Bicknell (Sean). Proud Grandfather of Matthew Wisher, Megan Terry (Adam), Kristin Smith (Joe), Chris Roberts (Kelly), David Wisher, Courtney Prieboy (John), Ruth Wisher, Kimberly Wisher, Bryan Williams (Carly), Sam Wisher (Sarah), Lauren Bicknell, Kandice Wisher and Reagan Garcia. Proud great grandfather of Brogan, Fiona, and Maddox Terry, McKenzie Smith, Adelaide and Owen Roberts, Charlotte and Harrison Prieboy and Channing Wisher. Son of the late Ruth V. Wisher (Hirtzel) and Thomas O. Wisher. Brother of Richard Wisher and the late Dorothy Wisher, Doris Wisher, Bobby Wisher and Lorraine May. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Eva Claire Wisher and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th Street, LaPlace on Friday, February 11, 2022. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass 12:00 p.m. Interment in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA.
