Laplace – Shortly after 5:30 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash on U.S. Hwy 61 at Windsor Boulevard in St. John Parish. The crash claimed the life of 28-year-old Ryan Albertson of Madison, Missouri.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Albertson was westbound on Windsor Boulevard in a Pontiac G6. At the same time, a Kenworth T880 was northbound on U.S. Hwy 61. For reasons still under investigation, the Pontiac disregarded a traffic control signal and entered into the northbound lanes of U.S. Hwy 61 directly in front of the Kenworth. The Kenworth then impacted the driver’s side of the Pontiac.
Both Albertson and the sole passenger of the Pontiac were unrestrained at the time of the crash. Albertson sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The passenger of the Pontiac sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Kenworth was properly restrained and sustained no injuries. Impairment is not suspected, but standard toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
