Friday update: Another COVID-19 death reported in St. John

LAPLACE — The Louisiana Department of Health reported a third St. John the Baptist Parish fatality from COVID-19 (the coronavirus) in its Friday update. The previous two fatalities were announced Wednesday.
St. John Parish currently has 41 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of three from Thursday’s report.
St. Charles Parish saw little change since yesterday. St. Charles currently has 23 positive cases and two deaths.
Positive cases in St. James Parish increased from 29 cases and one death on Thursday to 40 cases and three deaths on Friday.
Louisiana now has 2,746 confirmed cases of COVID-19. This number has increased by 441 since yesterday, and it is expected to continue growing as more tests are completed. There have been 119 deaths statewide as of Friday, an increase of 36 since Thursday’s report. Currently, 54 of the 64 Louisiana parishes are reporting positive cases.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, 773 COVID-19 patients are reported to be in the hospital, and 270 of those patients are on ventilators.
