Tugboat strikes Hale-Boggs Bridge

HAHNVILLE – A tugboat carrying non-hazardous materials struck the Hale-Boggs Bridge at 1:30am Sunday March 15. No lives were lost and no hazardous materials were released into the river.  The Department of Transportation is inspecting the bridge to ensure there is no damage. The U.S. Coast Guard reported that two out of 29 barges carrying grain have sunk and they were on scene immediately assessing potential damages to the remaining barges.
