PLAQUEMINE – The West St. John Rams brought their high-powered offense on the road to face the Plaquemine Green Devils this week. The Rams hoped to slow down the Devils offensive spread attack.

The Rams pulled away in the second half to defeat the Green Devils 30 – 16. West St. John opened play by driving the ball to the Plaquemine 15-yard line before turning the ball over on downs. The Green Devils would fumble the ball which was scooped up by sophomore DE Kailep Edwards who ran the ball in for a touchdown to make the score 6-0. Plaquemine would answer later in the first quarter when they would score on a 2-yard run up the middle on a quarterback sneak to take the lead 7 – 6. West St. John came back to regain the lead on a 19-yard touchdown strike from D’andre Gaudia to Senior Wide Receiver Aaron Moll for the 12 – 7 score. West St. John held the lead 12-7 at halftime.

Plaquemine came back to add a field goal in the third quarter to close the gap to 12-10, but the Rams would strike again on an 80-yard touchdown strike from Gaudia to wide receiver Trenton Grow for the 18-10 lead.

Plaquemine would score in the fourth quarter on a 65-yard touchdown pass from Mike Mitchell to Jazz Provo to make the score 18-16. The Devils went for 2 points for the tie, but the pass was intercepted by Jaydon Hamilton for West St. John to preserve the 18-16 lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Kaejean Kindrick received the ball and darted though a gap and down the right sideline for a touchdown for the 24 – 16 West St. John lead. The Rams extended the lead to 30-16 on a pass from Gaudia to Grow late in the game.
