Community College renovations on the way

As many of you know, the Reserve Campus was originally built in the 70s. As with most buildings, weather and time take their toll and leave behind only a glimpse of what it was in the past. In the coming months several restoration and renovation projects will begin to bring back the campus to a more modern version of what it has become.

New roofing, cleaning, painting, and furniture are a few of the projects scheduled to begin. Two of the “glass labs” will be repaired and brought current as well. Glass labs are instrumental in the education of process operators and instrumentation technicians. It serves a vital role in the “hands on” training that is synonymous with River Parishes Community College.

The plans to build a new Welding Facility fell through a year ago when bids came in much higher than anticipated and the federal grant, even with the match, was not enough to complete the project. The federal authority on that particular grant funding has allowed its redirection for a complete renovation of the current Welding Facility on campus. The space will be completely gutted and then reconstructed resulting in a modern Welding Facility for our students.

It is an exciting time to be part of River Parishes Community College and to be a part of all the growth and continued success for our area. There are more classes being offered than ever before for our surrounding communities as well as, additional offerings of classes through Dual Enrollment at the high school level. It is a great time to pursue a career or change of career with the variety of programs and the corresponding jobs available in the area. Whether you are looking to complete your high school diploma, get a recognized certification or earn a degree in your chosen field River Parishes Community College is the place to be.
