Alfred “Al” Nevelin Wilson Jr. passed away peacefully in the early afternoon on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018.

He was born April 30, 1954, in St. Bernard Parish (DA PARISH), and has been a resident in McDonough, Ga., for the last year.

Alfred was a retired detective with the New Orleans Police Department with the Management Criminal Investigation Division.

Alfred was also retired from Six Flags Theme park, with the Loss Prevention Office.

He also served honorably for five years in the United States Army (1972-1977) as a 95B20 (Processing Specialist/Military Police), assigned to 39th MP Company (Guard), Jackson Barracks, New Orleans.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Police Association of New Orleans.

Alfred graduated high school from Chalmette.

Alfred is survived by his wife and soulmate, Cha Cha Estrada Wilson.

He was a loving father to Charidie W. Menesses, Alfred N. Wilson III, Trevor M. Wilson and Alexis N. Wilson. He was also a loving stepfather to Elaine Crisostomo, Michael Crisostomo, Sherry Mae Crisostomo and Katrina Crisostomo; father in law to Misty M. Wilson of LaPlace; and loving grandfather to Torey D. Friloux, Kaysi L. Wilson and Kyle M. Wilson.

He is survived in life by his brothers, Michael and Eric Wilson and his sisters, Theresa Amie, Sharon Williams, Lila Burton and Tania Kenney.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred N. Wilson Sr; mother Unie L. Wilson; and sister Karen A. Wilson.

Alfred was well known for his fun loving sense of humor, and even more well known for his infectious laughs.

He was a determined and strong fighter to the end. He will be terribly missed from all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the celebration of Alfred N. Wilson Jr. at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd in Hammond on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home.
