LAPLACE — Corey Lyntrell Anderson was riding his motorcycle along Yorktowne Drive in LaPlace in the early morning hours Sunday when his life ended, the victim of premeditated gun violence, according to authorities.

“It was specifically targeted,” St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre said. “He was on a motorbike and he was being followed by a vehicle. We don’t have a motive at this time.”

Anderson, 25, of Reserve was found lying in the grass in the 1300 block of Yorktowne Drive in LaPlace at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.

His motorcycle was found on the ground near his body.

St. John Sheriff Office deputies and emergency service personnel responding to the scene of a shooting report attempted to render medical aid to Anderson, but he was unresponsive.

The coroner pronounced Anderson dead on the scene.

“We’re still trying to piece it all together,” Tregre said. “We’re meeting with the Detective Bureau to see where the leads are progressing, where it’s taking us.”

According to Tregre, police are receiving information through anonymous tips but not enough yet to share publicly any information on suspects, motive or the type of weapon used.

Police are also looking to see if Sunday’s killing is linked to a May 13 shooting that left two wounded on English Colony Drive in LaPlace, just a few streets away.

Anyone with information regarding the killing is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.

Crimestoppers callers do not have to testify and may qualify for a cash reward.
