BOUTTE — A motorcycle rider was killed in St. Charles Parish, the result of a head-on collision with a Toyota Camry, according to Louisiana State Police Troop B officials.

Troopers said the fatal wreck occurred at approximately 12:03 a.m. Monday, claiming the life of 49-year-old Waggaman resident Evelina Davis Diggs.

Crash scene investigators determined the collission occurred as Diggs was riding a 2016 Can Am Spyder north on Louisiana 52 near Luling Street.

For reasons still under investigation, Diggs’ vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and crashed into a Toyota Camry, driven by 26-year-old Dajahl Novian White of Ama.

Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, Diggs sustained severe injuries, and the St. Charles Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Diggs dead on the scene.

White and his front seat passenger, 24-year-old Anashia Lebeauf of Ama, were properly restrained at the time of the crash. They were taken to St. Charles Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities said blood samples were collected and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
