ST. JAMES PARISH – Two LaPlace men were killed today (Feb. 11) following an overnight wreck, authorities said.
Shortly before 2 a.m., Louisiana State Police troopers began investigating the single-vehicle crash on U.S. 61, south of Interstate 10 in St. James Parish.
The crash took the life of 29-year-old Ricardo Wallace and 21-year-old Corin Wallace of LaPlace, State Police said.
The initial investigation indicated the crash occurred as Ricardo Wallace was traveling southbound on U.S. 61 in an Audi sedan. Evidence shows Ricardo Wallace was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and it began to overturn, striking a tree and becoming submerged in the bayou.
Ricardo and Corin Wallace were pronounced dead at the scene by the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office.
Impairment is a suspected factor in this crash, State Police said, adding a toxicology sample will be taken from Ricardo Wallace for analysis.
