Keller: Be positive, make a great 1st impression

We have often heard it said that you never get a second chance to make a good, first impression.

Regardless of how many times we’ve been warned about making a good, first impression, the majority of us fail the test.

Many people have lost sales opportunities, failed job interviews or been turned down for dates because of a negative, first impression.

The one thing that people use to form their impression of you is your countenance. That’s right!

The way you dress and how you walk makes a difference, but the look on a person’s face is what shows one’s nature or feeling.

Your face will send a message, loud and clear, if people want to hear what you have to say. It may not be fair, but it’s a fact.

Sonya Hamlin, a communication expert, writes, “We remember 85 to 90 percent of

what we see, but less than 15 percent of what we hear.”

I’m reminded of the following, which I’ve heard from different pastors.

When Christians tell them that Jesus is in their heart, they immediately challenge them to notify their face.

Be assured that body language is important, but the most revealing part of your body is your face. You only have seven seconds to send a message.

Make it positive!
