GSU leadership students enjoy warm St. John welcome

LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish leaders spoke to 45 honor students from Grambling State University President’s Student Leadership Initiative Nov. 17 at Sicily’s Italian Buffet in LaPlace.

Dr. Henry L. Hardy and Mattie Hardy of LaPlace coordinated the event to welcome the students to St. John Parish as they passed through greater New Orleans to attend professional conferences.

Lt. Chip Wale from the St. John Sheriff’s Office, Chief Administrative Officer Laverne Toombs, Bernadette Vincent, Henry L. Hardy and Pastor Randy Vincent spoke to the group about leadership roles, decision making, teamwork and faith.

Mattie Hardy described the event as wonderful and inspiring. Following the meal, students enjoyed an evening of fellowship at the Hardy house.

More than 40 students from the Grambling State University President’s Student Leadership Initiative recently attended a lunch event in LaPlace.
