MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Reserve native Damonte Coxie, wide receiver for the University of Memphis Tigers, has been named to the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl Top 250 list.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl is a prestigious all-star college game that serves as a stepping stone for athletes to enter the NFL Draft. Ninety-three Reese’s Bowl athletes have been drafted, included 40 who were selected in the first three rounds the past two years and 10 first-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Coxie transferred to East St. John High School in Reserve for his final season of prep football in 2015. Under the direction of former Wildcats head coach Alden Foster, Coxie became a first team pick for the Louisiana Football Coaches Association All-State team. He appeared in an all-star game with six catches for 193 yards and two touchdowns. By the end of the year, he would become the No. 5 recruit in Louisiana as ranked by 247 sports.

Coxie has played in 41 games since landing at the University of Memphis as a red shirt freshman in 2016. He’s had 169 catches for 2,773 yards and 19 touchdowns. According to the University of Memphis athletics website, Coxie has tied for third in total receptions and receiving yards. He needs only 44 more yards to claim a spot in the Memphis Top 10 for career all-purpose yards. Coxie also ranked fifth in catches with 72 in the 2018 season, and he tied for seventh with nine touchdowns catches in 2019.

Coxie’s ability to smash records led him to a spot on the Maxwell Award Watch list earlier this year. He is also a two-year member of the Biletnikoff Award watch list.

Coxie enters the 2020 season with one year of eligibility remaining. If all holds to schedule, the Memphis Tigers will face Arkansas State in the Sept. 5 season opener.

Coxie is the son of Monte Weathers and the late Donald Coxie. For more information about his collegiate career, visit
