Reserve drug bust: 6 arrested, 1 sought

RESERVE — A half-dozen area residents have been arrested, and another is being sought following a multi-week drug investigation that culminated last week with a drug raid on a Reserve housing complex.

Arrested on Thursday were Kemone Jermaine Clofer, 26, of Reserve; Jamal L. Joseph, 30, of Reserve; Carey Michael King Jr., 31, of Kenner; Jasmine Shnarayuan Beverlyshea Morgan, 24, of LaPlace; and Vinita Vonkese Cambre, 29, of Reserve.

Another individual, Stefon Francois, is wanted in connection to this investigation, police announced Tuesday afternoon.

According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, members of the Special Operations Division executed a search warrant Thursday in the 200 block of East 13th Street following a three-week investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics from the Reserve location.

Upon executing the court warrant, police said the suspects attempted to flee, and detectives immediately apprehended and arrested King, Clofer, Joseph, Cambre and Morgan.

A search of the residence resulted in the recovery of cocaine, crack, methamphetamines, marijuana packaged for sale, drug paraphernalia and two firearms.

Detectives then obtained felony arrest warrants for Greenup and Francois, who police said fled the residence as detectives approached the apartment.

Greenup, who the investigation was centered around, was apprehended Sunday in Kenner by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and officers of the Kenner Police Department.

Clofer, Greenup, King and Joseph are convicted felons with lengthy criminal histories involving drugs, illegal carrying of weapons and crimes of violence, police said.

Clofer was booked with violation of uniform controlled dangerous substances law – drug free zone, two counts of possession of a firearm/carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, two counts of illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and various misdemeanor charges.

He is being held in custody in lieu of a $333,000 bond.

Joseph is charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute cocaine (felony), violation of uniform controlled dangerous substances law – drug free zone, two counts of possession of a firearm/carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon and various misdemeanors.

He is being held in custody in lieu of a $274,500 bond.

King is booked with violation of uniform controlled dangerous substances law- drug free zone, two counts of possession of a firearm/carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, two counts of illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

He is being held in custody in lieu of a $271,500 bond.

Greenup is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm/carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substances law-drug free zone.

He is being held in custody in lieu of a $229,500 bond.

Morgan was arrested for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substances law – drug free zone.

She is being held in custody in lieu of a $221,500 bond.

Cambre is booked with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, two counts of illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

She is being held in custody in lieu of a $201,500 bond.

Detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating Francois.
