LAPLACE — A neutral location monitored by surveillance video has been established in LaPlace for parents and guardians to conduct custodial child exchanges.

Dunkin’ Donuts is hosting the designated area at 1334 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said Dunkin’ Donuts is hosting the designated area at 1334 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.

“The Child Exchange Zone was set up to offer a safe, neutral place for divorced or separated couples to meet when exchanging custody of their children,” Tregre said.

The Child Exchange Zone adds to the Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Purchase Exchange Zone location, which was designated in January.

Police say these designated parking spaces provide residents a place to park and perform transactions or meet for the exchange of children in a public place, close to law enforcement.

The parking lot is monitored at all times by video surveillance, authorities said.
