McComack: Chamber ambassadors needed & appreciated

Published 12:03 am Wednesday, February 8, 2017

The 2017 Chamber Banquet went off without a hitch — literally.

Amidst the planning and anticipating “what if” this happens or doesn’t happen, I am so grateful for the gifts we are provided each day.

And that my friends are PEOPLE! No, I didn’t type that wrong. I mean that.

Sure, people can make things challenging for each of us, BUT look at the good that comes from people that cross our paths each day.

There’s one group of people I would not want to take this Chamber journey without. It’s our Ambassadors (aka the FACE of the Chamber).

Each year, a unique group of chamber professionals are sought out (some do sign up on their own thankfully,) but they come together to help all new members get acclimated to their new investment with the Chamber.

It’s kind of like having a mentor to walk you through, guiding you on what you might want to look for and helping you make connections with people you normally would not have the opportunity to do so.

What’s the purpose?

The purpose of the River Region Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Council is to enhance the visibility of and promote the general membership in the Chamber.

The council serves as a conduit for communication between the organization and its membership.

They help new and prospective members explore their membership opportunities and engage in chamber networking events and activities.

Ambassadors play a vital role in membership retention by calling on existing members, asking about the member’s business and how the Chamber can better serve them.

Who are Ambassadors?

They are honest, energetic, reliable and motivated professionals — owners of or employees of member River Region Chamber businesses.

They are outgoing and project a positive image for the company they represent, as well as for the Chamber.

Ambassadors are hard-working volunteers that perform a key role in member relations and retention by working as a liaison between the Chamber and the public.

Benefits of an Ambassador

It heightens your visibility in the River Parishes Chamber business community and provides an invitation to attend exclusive Chamber and affiliated events.

There is face-to-face networking with Chamber members — the most proven and effective way to market your own products and/or services.

There is recognition on the Chamber website, social media and among community business leaders.

Get valuable business leads and contacts.

Expand your circle of influence.

Achieve personal and professional goals and make a difference in the community.

My sincerest thanks goes to our 2017 Superstars: Michele Millet, Kent Lomax, Gloria Trahan, Angela Golden, Carin Fernandez, Wayne Vicknair, Ryan Leblanc, Laurie Thomassee and Kim Bourgeois.

If you’re a current member, and feel you have the above qualities to offer, I would love the opportunity to talk further with you. As always, it continues to be an honor to serve you, the business community of the River Region!
