LAPLACE — Parish officials have located a break in a force main at the LaPlace Wastewater Lift Station near the Percy Hebert Building.
Utilities and Fleming Construction are working on repairing the break and repairs are anticipated to take 4-6 hours. In an effort to maintain the heavily-utilized system, LaPlace residents are being asked to conserve water until further notice by limiting the amount of discharge placed into the wastewater system. Activities such as washing clothes, running dishwashers, flushing toilets, and all other activities that discharge into the collection system should be limited until further notice.
Taking showers and baths are not included in the conservation measures.
NOTE: DRINKING WATER IS NOT AFFECTED. The St. John Parish drinking water system is not impacted and water is safe for consumption.
Parish Road from Elm Street to Hemlock and Percy Hebert Road from Airline to Parish Road will be closed during repairs.Thank you for your cooperation as crews work as quickly as possible.
