WorkReady U students earn career opportunities

RESERVE — Student Chelton Reid recently explained why he wanted to continue his education and reach his career goals.

He said he felt proud for never giving up, adding he wants to be an inspiration in his family.

Reid was one of many WorkReady U (formerly GED) students at South Central Louisiana Technical College who recently celebrated at the school’s Adult Education Fall 2016 Celebration of Excellence Award Ceremony.

The event recognized the achievements of students who improved their testing levels as they worked towards finishing their High School Diploma.

Student recognition included the Most Improved in Reading, Language and Math, Overall Improvement, Best Attendance and Most Motivated. Parents and friends of the students were present.

Students and parents gave testimonials on the value of the program and the positive effect it has had on them.

Classes are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
