Keller: Operation Blessing follows season’s reason

Published 12:01 am Saturday, December 10, 2016

I believe we think less of Jesus around Christmas than at any other time.

Sure, we sing nice religious songs and buy expensive gifts, but what is our real passion during this presumed holy celebration?

America is the land of plenty and during December, we prove it. It’s estimated that this year, we’ll spend $10 billion dollars on gifts, wrappings, Christmas trees, postage, telegrams and Christmas cards, many that won’t mention Christmas, but only Happy Holidays.

In fact, we drift dangerously near insanity as Christmas draws near.

With all that activity, it’s no wonder we have so little time to concentrate on the birth of our Savior.

I must admit that my family is no different. This year, however, I pray that we change and make an effort to reach out to others in need.

With this in mind, Get High on Life has decided to continue, as we have in the past, Operation Blessing, and believe that we will have an opportunity to bless families in need.

Jesus said to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and visit the sick and lonely. Instead of buying me a gift for Christmas, I will ask my children to give the money they plan to spend on me to Operation Blessing.

Again, this year, Get High on Life hopes to lift the burden of our less fortunate in the community.

If you want to be a partner with Get High on Life in blessing the less fortunate in our community, please send a check or money order to Operation Blessing, in care of Get High on Life, P.O., Drawer U, Reserve, LA 70084.

Can you be a part of Operation Blessing without us knowing? Certainly!

Just secretly pick a family and bless them with food and gifts. If the secret to living is giving, this Christmas consider reaching out to someone in need.

The Bible says it is more blessed to give than to receive. In preparation for Christmas, let’s be blessed by blessing someone in need.

May the real spirit of the Christmas celebration affect each one of us.
