NORCO — Authorities believe they have recovered the body of a Mississippi woman missing since last week.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified by employees of Magnolia Fleet that they were on a barge at Mile Post 122 in the Mississippi River and located a body floating in the water at approximately 6:57 a.m. Sunday.
The body recovered is believed to be that of Larrielle Ross of Mississippi, but the Sheriff’s Office said Sunday the identification can’t be confirmed until dental records are provided and an autopsy is completed.
The autopsy will take place Tuesday morning in New Orleans, authorities said.
The Sheriff’s Office announced last week the public’s help was needed in locating Ross, who was reported missing Wednesday.
Ross works for the Army Corps of Engineers MSU, which had a boat docked in Norco at Shell Motiva. Ross was last seen on the boat at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Ross is a 20-year-old who lives in Vicksburg, Miss.
She was last seen wearing a red MSU Uniform shirt, white hat with Army Corps of Engineers, black pants and possibly a teal shirt under her uniform.
Ross did not badge out via the security office, authorities said, which is the only way on and off the boat as per protocol. All of her personal belongings were found on the boat, including her cell phone, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Anyone with any information on Ross is asked to contact Detective Jennifer James at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
