Welding school gets million dollar boost

Motorists driving along Airline Highway can see a 4,000-square-foot welding facility under construction at South Central Louisiana Technical College in Reserve.
School, state and parish officials touted the project’s impact Thursday while celebrating a $1 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration that will help fund 40 indoor welding booths and an outdoor welding area, allowing the college to train hundreds of students.
