LAPLACE — Candice Brooks, a St. Joan of Arc Catholic School graduate, recently spent more than two years working in missions across the world.

She visited the sixth grade religion classes at SJA toward the end of the academic year to share her experiences.

Her training began in Mexico, where her mission work began.

She then spent approximately a year in Ecuador and a year in Peru. She ended her mission travels in India before returning home.

Brooks hopes to continue her work on short mission trips. She spoke about the importance of personal prayer and how it fuels you to do Christ’s work.

Brooks shared what her typical daily schedule was like, the areas she served and the types of work she did, like visiting and praying with people, hiking to remote areas to share the message of Christ and playing with the children.
