LAPLACE — Students in second through seventh grade at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School had the opportunity to travel around the world and even into space through the Google Expedition Pioneer Program.

As described by Google, “Expeditions is a new product that allows teachers to take their classes on virtual field trips, immersing students in experiences that bring abstract concepts to life and giving students a deeper understanding of the world beyond the classroom.”

The teachers guided the students through the virtual tours and explained what they were seeing and how it related to what they were learning or are going to learn.

The views were 360 degrees and 3D, giving the illusion of truly being at the various locations, like the Great Barrier Reef, concentration camps, national landmarks, Mars and more.
